With the publication “Malabo. City and Architecture,” we present the second installment of the collection of concise catalogues on the architectural and urban heritage of Equatorial Guinea. This publication aims to disseminate the heritage and historical memory values of the city of Malabo, as well as to enhance the historic center, with the purpose of establishing the knowledge base for its preservation and declaration as a National Heritage site.
The edition is linked to the exhibition “Malabo. (Re)discovering the city,” which was inaugurated on October 23, 2018, at the Spanish Cultural Center in Malabo, coinciding with the celebration of the 50th anniversary of Equatorial Guinea’s Independence. The aim of the “Lived Architecture” collection is to spread the knowledge of Equatoguinean architectural and urban heritage, considered a key factor for the country’s development, which requires protection and revitalization by all national and international administrations.
