December 2014
On December 15, 2014, we inaugurated the exhibition Equatorial Guinea, Lived Architecture at the Pall Mall Gallery in London, as part of the second Afro-Spanish Cultural Week, promoted by the Embassy of Equatorial Guinea in the UK.
The exhibit spans three centuries of urban history and built heritage, centring on the result of urban and architecture projects associated with the different moments of occupation and closing with the present-day period and its interventions to revalorize heritage by means of contemporary interventions or restoration of architectural heritage and the urban revitalization of historic centres.
Three centuries summarise the outside influences among which Spain’s was fundamental, to understanding heritage today. Governmental, administrative and religious authorities, and buildings devoted to leisure, commerce, industry and services form the material legacy of the Spanish colonial, provincial and decolonisation eras. This sequence, spanning centuries, saw the participation of architects, engineers and construction companies, with international projection.
